Child poverty

Children do not deserve to grow up in poverty (poverty means – lack of food and nutrition, shelters, clothes, clean water, education and health care facilities). It is reported that a child born in a poor family may take around four to five generations to reach the average national level of income, and one in six children lives in extreme poverty (The world bank, 2020). About one billion children are multidimensionally poor (lack necessities as basic as nutrition or clean water) across the world (UNICEF, 2021). More than 75% of the world’s poor children live in Africa (World Population Review, 2021, Fenz and Hamel, 2019). About 663 million children live in poverty and 385 million children live in extreme poverty, forced to survive on less than $1.90 a day (Wikipedia, 2021).
